Several casualties in custody have been high profile, including a 50-year-old hospital director who lost his life in prison after a third of a year in detention.

A prisoner incarcerated with the deceased testified that he was led to the courtyard by prison staff immediately preceding his passing, visibly injured and exposed from the hips downward. His remains remains unreleased to Gaza.

Additional detainees who died in confinement by Israeli authorities are unidentified. The prison service and military gave researchers with the total of casualties in detention, and minimal other details such as the facility where they perished, but not the detainees’ identities.

Documentation Problems
