Approximately 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, bringing strong winds topping over 100 km/h.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the capital city saw its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both states.
